HELP with 9 month old sleep

Bailey123x · 12/09/2024 00:50

I'm coming on here because I am so desperate for advice. My 9 month old has slept through the night 6 ish times since being born.
I have tried EVERYTHING.
Different clothes, sleep bags, milk, cutting from 3 naps to 2, limiting times on sleep, early bed time, late bedtime, you name it ive tried it. He has 3 meals a day and 3 bottles.
He wakes up every 2/3 sometimes 4 but that's a push just rolling around crying. He has got a tooth coming through so I know that's bothering him but it's every night. I'm getting blocks of 2 hour sleep at a time which I can deal with often but it's literally been the last 9 months! Am I doing something wrong with routine I don't know! Our routine is
6.30 wake
9 milk
9-10.30/11 nap
12 lunch
1.30-2.30- nap
6.30/6.45 bed
Am I doing something wrong or can someone tell me this is normal? Worried something else is wrong and that's why he won't sleep 😥

Honestly my son is nearly 9 months and I feel much better for having just settled with the idea he's not going to sleep through the night. We get a few 4-5 hour chunks and occasionally a bit better, he's eating more food in an evening now so maybe that's helped, plus a better nappy so he's not disturbed wet. He's going to bed a bit early maybe? Does he have more milk in the night? My boy is hungry it seems and has tonnes but then does sleep Anyway, you'll get all kinds of advice, but I would remind you that you are not doing anything wrong!

It’s normal. You may be aiming for a bit too much sleep overall. Average is 12-15 hours in 24 hours. You’ve got 12 overnight and 2.5-3 during the day. So you’re right at the top end. Capping a nap or a little bit later bedtime consistently for 2 weeks may help. It also might not 8-10 months is often a bit rubbish for sleep. Hope it improves soon.

I'm sorry to tell you this but mine only slept from 11 pm - 7 am when she was 14 months old. These mythical babies that sleep through from very young sound amazing.

That's completely normal though ? I'm not sure why people expect babies to sleep very much because they mostly don't. By 2 years old this should all have settled down and you should have a reliable nights sleep unbroken.

Or by 4 years if your DC have ADHD!

Yeah he drinks 3 bottles of milk in the day but at night still wants 2 bottles but then awake more times between that!
The only thing I've never changed is his milk and worrying he has an intolerance but showing no other signs of intolerances!

Yeah when he went to nursery for the first time the other week he had 30 minutes in morning and 45 in afternoon then a small 15 minute cat nap at 4pm. He only woke up once that night so maybe cap the sleeps!

Best bit of advice someone gave me is don't EXPECT a baby to sleep.

Mine didn't for a whole year!!! The day before I returned to work she miraculously didn't wake up. I ran in her room terrified she'd died but no she just suddenly decided to sleep through and never went back.

My mother in law telling me my husband slept through since the day she brought him home from hospital and ate 3 meals a day from 3 months. Absolute rubbish thank god they live miles away cause k"I wouldn't have been able to curb my tongue long term!!!!!!!!
