12 month old in hysterics before sleep

Hi all.
My 12 month old DD started settling in sessions at nursery 2 weeks ago. She hasn't done a full day yet, we've only done 2 hour stays every few days.
In the last week sleep time has become a nightmare (naps and nigh-time). Admittedly we never managed to teach her to fall asleep independently and we've always bounced on a yoga ball to get her to sleep. DD had two naps at nursery over the last 2 weeks and I was told she fell asleep in their arms (I can only imagine there was a lot of crying involved).
DD is definitely teething, she's got blocked nose, she's taking her first steps and learning to walk so there's a lot thats happening but I can't help but think that the main reason why she's been in hysterics before sleep is nursery :(
Now before every nap and night time she's in hysterics to the point where nothing helps, she throws herself back which she never did before. We don't just stay bouncing on the ball though, we try putting her in her cot, walking around the house, singing, putting her down but like I say it doesn't stop.
I'm hoping there will be someone that can relate or offer advice please? :(

Just to add, the nursery teachers are great and Im not questioning their ways of working/techniques at all. I'm only wondering whether this could be part of getting used to nursery/different way of sleeping? Or it could be that our baby is not ready for nursery yet? Seeing her be in hysterics so much is heartbreaking for me!

Is she getting her normal amount of day sleep? Only ask because I found when my little one was overtired because he'd had less than normal sleep he'd be hysterical like that too

Yes, she used to have shorter naps but in the last month it got a lot better and she naps for 1.5hours x twice a day. She wakes up 1 or 2 times in the night but overall gets 9-10h of sleep at night. So I dont think that lack of sleep is the issue.
Now that i say this I realized it's not just sleep time thats a nightmare - she gets hysterical when we try to change her nappies or give her medicine as well. This has also only started in the last week.

Sounds like she's overtired.

Sounds like she's overtired.

I don't think thats the case. This weekend she followed this schedule very closely on both days
7:45 - wake up
10am - 11:30 1st nap
4pm - 5:30 2nd nap
9pm - asleep for the night

I think these awake windows are fine for 12 month old?

In the last week there have been other behavioural changes - she's also hysterical every time when we put her down to change her nappy (which can be soon after waking up from a nap) or when I put her in her cot to sleep and she wouldn't act this way it she was simply overtired?

Are you giving her Nurofen before bed and naps to help ease the teething pain? That would be my first suggestion if not, could also explain why she is upset at nappy changes as maybe lying down exacerbates the pain?

Hey @ginntonic1 - I could literally have written this... my boy has always been so happy, but he started settling in sessions a week ago, and now he is in hysterics on a night, did you get to the bottom of it? I'm really hoping it's not nursery that's the problem.... normally with teeth he's snotty too, but no snot...
please offer a worried mum some reassurance
