Routines and sleeping through the night

Hi all

I wondered if you could share your experiences with your little ones and sleeping through the night, in terms of if it happened alongside feedings/routine changing or did it just suddenly happen? Did they start sleeping through when they increased their milk intake during the day/start on solids?

I don't want to jump the gun too much but my daughter has just turned 4 months and is waking twice just for feeds ( very good at going straight back down) which I know is perfectly reasonable but I'm just not sure wether to expect her to cut one out any time soon - she has been on 5oz bottles since she was about 6 weeks old. She just wont take any more than that at once and most of the time doesnt even drink it all. She almost always finishes both bottles at night so I'm sure she's genuinely hungry rather than waking out of habit and like I said, is going straight back to sleep once eaten both times. Her timings were bed at 7 - waking around 2am and again around 5am but recently she has started waking between 10 and 11pm for the first night feed and I'm not sure why that is. Then the time of the 2nd waking is anyones guess , sometimes its 1am somtimes 4. But she always goes through with just the two feeds no matter how close or far apart they are.

The last two nights I've been doing a 6oz bottle before bed as she had drained the 5oz a couple of times, and want to make sure she's going down with a full tummy. But it hasn't made a difference to the timing of her waking.

I'm thinking of giving her a little taste of some solids soon, I assume if she's not ever going to have more than a 5oz bottle at a time, there will come a point where she will just start wanting for something else instead.

I kmow it can have no relevance to feeding and all babies are different etc, and night feedings can go on a lot longer . I'm just curious really, if there was any pattern to it in your little ones.

Twin DD’s will be 4 months next week and they’ve slept through the night since 6 weeks old. Routine has been key with them, it was the same with DS who is now 20 months too.

They currently have 7oz every 3 hours during the day.

Might be the 4-month sleep regression if her pattern has changed recently?

In terms of sleeping through, my (BF) baby has done it on and off since 3 months. She’ll sleep through for a few weeks, then have a period where she’s back waking (generally only once or twice thankfully) for a feed, then sleep through again. I’ve found you can’t expect it consistently for a good while (she’s 6 months now). Though I’m sure some babies do sleep through more consistently than her, and equally, others wake more than her!

Yes I wondered about if it was a sleep regression thing- if that's the only change in her sleep from it then I'll take that!
