Pros and cons of toddler floor bed

Looking at getting our 17mo a floor bed as we still cosleep and breastfeed to sleep. I'd ideally like to stop the cosleeping but it's causing a lot of tears which I can't handle. Maybe a floor bed is a better option then I get in and out of bed when necessary. Has this worked for anyone? Any pros or cons I need to think about? They're very pricey!

I had floorbeds for my younger two and it worked great. Easy to feed to sleep and if they get upset in the night you just get in with them. And you don't have to worry about transitioning them to a "proper" bed at a later stage

Cons I suppose is they can get up and wander about/come and find you - usually the second you bring a cup of tea or a glass of wine to your lips - but I guess if they were still in a cot they'd just yell? So not a massive con :)

And they are but no need to buy another bed for a while - my 7yo is still in his (it's a small double so will do him for a while yet!)

Mine went into a floor bed at 10 months and to stop him inevitably getting out constantly I just got an extra high guard on the side. He's 23 months now and still hasn't managed to escape 😅 they are brilliant and needn't be too pricey. I got mine from BedKingdom for £90.

Thank you @soundsys @Devilsmommy

Did you leave them in the bed in evening after putting them down for bed time? Or did you stay with them?

Ive always popped him in after his bedtime bottle, pulled up the guard and left. He has a good old roll around for 10 minutes and crashes😂 my little one loved it from the get go. Needed his space obviously 😅

At that age left them once asleep and went downstairs - but they were both able to safely navigate stairs by that point and get me if they needed me, and generally the issues were with going to sleep rather than staying asleep so it didn't really cause any issues!

Although now I think about it my youngest mostly just yelled MUUUM if she needed me, even though there was nothing preventing her getting out of bed/her room/coming downstairs 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh sorry did you mean did I leave them to fall asleep? Middle one I was still lurking waiting for him to fall asleep before leaving the room until youngest was born when he was 2 Blush

I had a double size floor bed for both mine. Breastfed to sleep and then left. My first would wake a few times in the night and I’d go through and inevitably fall asleep next to them most nights but it did mean I got to spend half the night with my husband, I got plenty of sleep and I was comfy no matter which bed I was in. Eventually she started to sleep through so I just lay with her until she fell asleep and left.

Neither of them wandered around at night because it was dark in the hall and too scary. They did get up early in the morning and find me though….
