ah did this few weeks ago. build it up, tell her its a big girls bed, let her choose which duvet to put in etc., make sure she has all her normal comforts (special toy, blanket, whatever). good luck, im sure it will be fine, my DS has never looked back and i thought it would be a total nightmare.

How old was your ds?

When my dds moved into beds, we always let their bears sleep in it for a night or two first. By the time we let our dds move in, they were desperate to sleep there too

2 and 7 months. to be honest i'd left it a bit late because he'd been ill and didnt want any more trauma for a bit.

are you worried about your DD moving or just want to make it extra special?

mummynumnum · 15/04/2008 21:39

Think she will be fine, as there is a double bed in her room that we use on occasions (unsettled night/ill etc) and she seems to sleep far better in it.

Want to make it extra special, but dont want it to be a disaster.

stairgate on the door so she doesn't sleepwalk/potter into the bathroom/toilet/your bedroom....???

mummynumnum · 16/04/2008 22:16

We have one at the top of stairs so unfortunately can potter into our bedroom. Bathroom downstairs. Stairgate difficult to fix to bedroom door, but may have to buy a different version.

She has fallen out of bed once, but wedged in now and put old cot matress by side of bed.

well done !

i have stairgates all over the house, but unfortunately within about 2 days of moving DS to his big bed he worked out how to open the stairgates!

still it is gorgeous to hear his little pitter patter of feed and then feel him climb into my bed for snuggles in the morning!

Went well. Just woke at 4am and prob fussed over her too much which woke her and then wanted me to stay in room.
