9 month won't settle in cot - help!

I started introducing my baby to his crib last week and so far it’s been horrendous. I’m putting him down for his naps and he’ll wake no more than 20 minutes later. Sometimes he’ll resettle, most times he won’t. At night he’ll fall asleep but wake an hour or two after he’s fallen asleep. I know he’s getting used to his crib so this may be the issue? I tried getting him into his crib months ago but he was having none of it then as well but now I’m being firm because I can’t keep stroller napping him. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Sorry I never worked this out either. DS is 14 now.

If he wakes up, give him a few minutes to see if he can resettle on his own before intervening. If he’s upset, comfort him without picking him up too much, so he learns to self-soothe @slope run

Not sure if this will help but something that can sometimes help if introducing a new sleep setting can be waiting until your baby is really tired before putting them down i.e. waiting till a bit later than you would usually put him down for a sleep. Sometimes the extra sleep pressure can help them settle better in a new space. Not a good idea if he is very sensitive to over tiredness of course!

Where was he sleeping overnight before this?

Personally I gave up on settling my daughter in the cot until around 14 months - must have been developmental as since then she has slept in there for naps no problems. Having said that she was already used to sleeping in it overnight from 5 months.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take it all onboard. I'm really hoping as this is 1st week fully in his own cot he will get better. So hard as he's my 3rd child so you'd think I'd know what I'm doing but he's my 1st baby that has been a difficult sleeper so this is a whole new experience for me 🤣😫
