Baby waking every hour from 1am for dummy

My second baby is currently 12 weeks old and I'm not sure if I should be doing something different with her sleep. At 10 weeks old she slept through the night then immediately the next night started waking hourly from 1am for her dummy. She has her last feed at 6/6.30pm then is asleep by 7.30 and sleeps soundly until 1am then starts waking every hour, until 6am when she gwts uo for her morning feed. I am finding it so bizarre as her brother never done this. I thought I could ride it out and it was maybe just a phase but it is now 2 weeks later and still happening, I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions that might help? I don't do anything else at these times to settle her, I just pop the dummy in and leave her, it seems to be enough and she always falls back asleep. Her eyes are always still closed as if she isn't fully awake but she is just looking for the dummy to resettle. I have tried to leave her for a bit and sometimes she resettles herswlf without the dummy, but mostly she will cry out for it. It is really starting to take a toll on me now though, I am literally going to bed at 7.30 with the kids as the first half of the night is the only time I can get a bit of sleep 😔

Could your baby be hungry/thirsty? 12 weeks is still really young to go all night without a feed. Maybe try an extra bottle when she first wakes?

I meant to say in the original post that she is taking 28oz of milk during the day so I am pretty certain she isn't hungry! 🙈 I did wonder that but when I added up what she is taking I thought surely not. She takes four 7oz bottles during the day.

I would agree with pp, it may be that's she's going through a growth spurt so suddenly needs more milk. She slept through the night because of the exhaustion of the growth spurt and then the hunger caught up to her. I'd try with an extra bottle/boob session and see what happens. My dd at that age would not have been able to go that long and she was an amazing sleeper. She'd slept about 10pm to 4am, bottle, then asleep again until 8/9am. So about 6 hours, which sounds about the same length of time that your daughter is sleeping before she stirs.

I'd still be tempted to try a feed, it could be a growth spurt?

Hope it resolves for you soon. Sleepless nights are rough! X

12 hours would be a long time without food at this age. Give her a feed at 1am and see how she goes

My son was sleeping right through 7pm to 7am at this stage so I didn't think it was unusual. She did used to take a bottle in the night but it dwindled and dwindled until she was only taking 1oz then she just stopped it. With her already taking 28oz during the day I am a bit worried about overfeeding her if I reintroduce a bottle in the night again? I also thought that if she was hungry she wouldn't be resettling again each time? 🤷‍♀️ I have no idea lol. Babies are so hard! 😂

This worked for us after a while. Dummy attached at each corner. In fact we had two dummy rabbits in her cot - she always found the dummy then. Took a few nights nearly broke me

Thank you this looks fab!

Wow, she needs a night feed..she's waking up because she's hungry and the dummy tricks her into thinking she's getting food (it is like a nipple to them) but then her tummy stays empty. Far too young not to offer milk in the night.

Most babies this age need night feeds, your son is highly unusual. You won't overfeed her!!

This

Dummies mask the hunger cues, you need to offer a feed. She's only 12 weeks! She absolutely needs a night feed at this age.
