Probably a silly question

I've been thinking about this for a while. When my baby starts rolling around, and/or crawling, how do you stop them from falling off the bed when co sleeping? I have a next to me on my side of the bed (which she refuses to sleep in) but obviously that only goes up to my hip, so if shes moving around, what's to stop her going down slightly and then off the edge of the bed? We have quite a high bed too, with no option to put it on the floor!

I'd work hard on getting her in next to me or more point straight into a cot now and lower the level of it as won't be long til she's pulling herself up

You have to either stop co-sleeping or change your bed set up. Most common is a mattress on the floor.

You can't do nothing as it is dangerous for them to fall off, obviously.

Thanks for replying, I'm at my wits end and literally nothing is working! I've tried everything I've researched including doing it whilst awake, asleep, hot water bottle, rolled up blanket, smell of me and other things. Nothing works and she'll wake up 10 minutes later screaming and won't be soothed until I bring her to me :(

The easiest answer is to change your bed arrangement? Many people put a mattress on the floor.

Could you put the bed up against the wall and have something at the foot of the bed, to stop her going off the end?

Devilsmommy · 14/07/2024 21:08

You can buy those bed guards that completely enclose the bed. Look on Amazon, there are loads

Greyblind09 · 14/07/2024 21:15

You’ll have to bed a breathable bed guard on one side of the bed and you on the other

Mattress on the floor and gate on the bedroom door. Anything else with height isn't safe.

Yes mattress on the floor. Remember to turn and air it regularly. Embrace the crack den vibes, it's only a short while.
