Baby’s sleep

So I’m looking for some advice as I am completely lost on where to go next. My little girl just turned 7 months today and ever since she was a couple months old, her naps are HORRENDOUS. I dread putting her down to sleep because she just screams. I used to stay in the room with her but she just plays up and wouldn’t let me comfort her anyway. She just rolls about and eyes are wide open. A few weeks ago I started the pick up put down method and sometimes it took 2/3 times of going in for her to fall asleep but she will cry/scream every single time. It’s like she has to cry so much before I can get her to sleep as she doesn’t self settle. Occasionally she will completely refuse her morning nap, I put her down this morning after 2 hours of waking up and she just didn’t seem tired so after a while I just got her up. Bought her downstairs for a while and then tried her again a bit later but by this time she was over tired and sleep time became a screaming match again. I have had the huckleberry app for help in case I’m getting it completely wrong but I just don’t know what else I can do 😩

Hey, have you always just put her down in a crib to nap? Personally I would quit that and try alternative methods to help her sleep. Babies usually need closeness or motion to get to sleep. So baby wearing, rocking, feeding are great for both closeness and movement. Also some babies love pram/car sleeps for the motion (mine doesn’t though so it’s a bit of a trial and error!) Very very few babies can get them selves to sleep in a cot at that young age… their brains are just not wired to do it yet. Have a look at Lynsey Hookway and Greer Kirchenbaum on insta as they both have much more realistic (and science backed) information on baby sleep.
