My dd has always woken in the night apart from the odd week here and there.
She used to go back to sleep only if I went into her room and reassured her. But lately she has got into the habit of staying awake for long periods of time.
I have ended up putting her in our bed as I'm so tired and now I feel I have built a 'rod for my own back'
I'm now going in sane as I will not be able to cope with a newborn who is feeding through the night and then dd waking up!
She goes ballistic if dp tries to put her back to sleep!!

Is there anybody who has had similar experiences and a good strategy which has worked?

No magic tricks, I'm afraid.

You will need to keep her in her cot when she wakes up. If you pick her up to reassure her, put her back down when she calms down.

me in same sitch too lately. dd of 18m never been a great sleeper, cc at one point which worked but that was before she was one - had a good period for a little while where i could leave her asleep and she would not wake but now she does not g down well and wakes in night and has trouble going down then too. If we bring her into our bed (through tiredness and ease etc) she goes into wide-awake mode and wants to play for a couple of hours but if dp tries to put her down she just screams and if i try its a mixture of above. I havent decided on what to do yet but I am sure that I read somewhere that it is about this age it can happen because of their developement and curiosity etc wanting to be up and not asleep. Havent yet decided between cc again which im not keep on plus small attempts have not gone down well and staying with her - but then thats not ideal either. Those of you with same problem, have you thought of any ideas yet to tackle it???
