15m old waking at 4.30am

My little boy has started waking at 4.30am every day. He will settle if picked up or given a bottle but won’t settle back in his cot again. If left he screams. He isn’t wet/dirty or hungry.
what can I try to get him to stop waking so early or atleast go back to sleep again.
He has always been a great sleeper since 4m old sleeping 12/13 hours
Thanks

Same here! Used to sleep until 7 at least... And now the latest we get is 5.30am if we're lucky. Later bed time doesn't make any difference for us and his naps vary a lot anyway and that doesn't affect it either. Was reading elsewhere that it's a phase they go through around this age? Really hope so... Sorry no advice but you're not alone..

Nothing you can do just have to wait till he gets older all these things are phases. They come and they go.

Yes I’m hoping it’s just a phase and doesn’t last much longer.
Im due our second baby in October so he must be getting me ready for a new born again.
I have literally tried everything so fingers crossed it’s just a phase 🤞

I read that early waking can actually be due to over-tiredness. While you might be tempted to put them to bed later, it's better to put them to bed a little earlier. The more rested they are the better they sleep. It worked with both of mine at that age.
Also the sun is now rising at around 4.30 so could it be related to that? Do you have blackout curtains or blinds in their room?

WellLetsSayHesSquare · 04/06/2024 21:44

We had this for a while until I woke 5 mins before her once and noticed the neighbour leaves for work early and the headlights shine through our front door and straight up the stairs...

Put tin foil over the window to see if it was that and she slept through...

Just a thought something may be waking him?

He goes to bed at 7pm and is tired goes to sleep no problem and doesn’t wake over night but 4.30 hits and bang he’s wide awake crying. He’s got a blackout roller blind and blackout curtains so his room is dark. His room is also in the back of the house and all gardens facing us so no real lights or anything but the curtains stop that anyway.
I thought I might be the sun rising and the birds chirping and now he’s got into a habit

Have you got white noise? If there are any external noises, that might drown them out. We cracked it (it took a while), by making that wake up as boring as possible. Didn't get him out of bed, didn't talk to him, kept lights off. I would just stay in the room or pat his bum and say shhh. He didn't go back to sleep (generally) but I think it sent the right signals that it's not interesting to wake at that time. Eventually he stopped waking then. On the occasions that my husband went to him and got him up, it would perpetuate the problem.
