9 Week old daytime napping

Baby is almost 9 weeks. He sleeps in a carrycot on a stand, in our room at night and in living room in day. Problem is he's getting very flaily and when he hits side in his sleep it wakes him up.

We have a cot upstairs I can start transitioning him into at night, but what do I do in the daytime if he has to sleep where I am until he's at least 6ms?

Do you mean a Moses basket?

Is the pram carrycot bigger?

Could you put a travel cot downstairs? Bouncy chair?

Mine mainly slept on me for the first 5 months unless she had fallen asleep in the car seat or pram.

@SneezedToothOut It's a bit like a moses basket, slightly bigger i guess. It attaches to the pram base and its what you use until they can sit up enough for a seat.

I was told sleeping on bouncy chairs isn't safe? I don't really have room for anything bigger like a full size travel cot downstairs. He does sleep on me when possible, just looking for something for when that's not an option.

The bouncy chair we had for DD was safe to sleep in. It was like this one. I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think?

I was usually asleep next to her on the sofa anyway.

(but then we never had a Moses basket and she slept in a hammock, not a cot when she was bigger.)

You could try a swaddle suit to stop him flailing about.

Lullaby Trust would not consider the bouncy chair linked above a safe sleep space. It meets none of the requirements of being flat and firm (i have the same one in a different pattern and i also think depending on DC's size, it can put their chin in an awkward position in terms of keeping the airway open).

OP, if you dont have room for a travel cot then i think your options are pretty limited. I also have a 9week old DD2. She sleeps in a grobag in the moses basket downstairs so no arm flailing. That might buy you a bit of time until your little one starts to roll, but then you'd need a plan for when its no longer safe for their arms to be swaddled. But she mostly does contact naps and we'll probably just carry on like that until 6 months.

Some travel cots are smaller than others and can also be used as playpens, which is super handy when they get more mobile. We had a Joie one that was less than a 1m in length and folded up really easily if we needed extra space. Do you have no space at all or would a smaller one work? We moved some furniture into the loft to give us space whilst we needed the playpen and then brought it back once DD1 was old enough to sleep in her own room for naps.
