9 month old does not sleep! Please help!

My little boy is 9 months on Sunday and has been the worst sleeper in the last 2/3 months. Before that he was only waking 2-3 times a night and settled himself to sleep(I thought I’d hit the jackpot!).
Now…he goes to sleep between 7&730, in his cot but with a lot of patting but then wakes at 10ish screaming the house down. We can settle him then, again by patting, but then he wakes up soon after and that’s it! All hell breaks loose…he screams and screams, even with me right next to him (I don’t leave him to cry) to the point he then throws up. I’ve even tried to co-sleep or hold him to just get some sleep which I said I’d never do again after our first, but he still doesn’t settle. Tonight it’s taken us 2.5 hours to get him back down after waking up, but I think it’s just pure exhaustion that he’s now asleep.
In the day he has 2 1.5 hour naps, in his cot and will sometimes have a little bridge nap if he needs it to not be too over tired.
He has CMPA but has a prescription formula and reflux and an awful gag reflex which doesn’t help the puking!
please, if anyone has any wisdom they can pass on I will be extremely grateful! From 2 exhausted parents x

Is he on a reflux medication eg omeprazole, Gaviscon?

MummytoJandL · 17/05/2024 02:48

He was, but the Omeprozal ended up hurting his tummy and gaviscon made his sick worse! He was bringing up more and it was very think and lumpy.

Christ that sounds tough. Screaming like that sounds like maybe he's in pain? Screaming for hours to the point of being sick, with a parent there with them, seems outside the normal range of behaviours around night time wake ups to me (mum of 2, the youngest one being 10 months). You say this started 2/3 months ago and he is 9 months old so I'm thinking maybe another allergy as the timings seem to fit with the sleep going to shit when starting weaning at 6 months? Just a thought?

MummytoJandL · 17/05/2024 15:02

It’s not ideal! That’s what I think, but the drs have said just re try the reflux medication as he even cried when he burps, so it’s clearly hurting him poor pickle. The drs just hve said they don’t know where to go next’
We’re waiting for his official allergy test at the hospital. The only reason I am not sure about allergies is, we have had real issues with weaning, up until about a week ago he would gag and be sick when anything even touched his tongue. So he’s not eating a huge amount! I’m going to make a proper food diary now after your comment, just to see if we have worse nights after certain foods!

Hi, just wondering how you got on with your little one? I'm in a very similar position. Currently 4 and a half hours into our night-time screaming session....and have absolutely no idea what to do or who to see?

I am also here searching for hope 😭😭😭. Split night from 12-2 (even though DD napped in total 1.15hr today) back awake again at 0330 screaming.
I have finally got her back asleep but in my arms and terrified to either transfer or lay her down in my bed.

Is your baby taking any milk?
Any teeth cutting through?
Or happy in your arms awake and screams the minute you put them down next to them?

He takes milk fine, screams regardless. He's being a pain taking to food though.
I've just put up my own post asking for advice about his sleeping habits.
He has cut some of his teeth, a few more are coming through but he's been a nightmare for sleeping since the day he was born unfortunately.
