love the name
how old is your lo?
with my lot (DC3 is 28mo) there has been a big juggling thing between time (of day) and length of daytime sleep and the bedtime. You have my sympathy too - tonight she took a mere 10-15 mins of faffing before she settled down [mid-sentence, it was hilarious] and the night before last i was there an hour and a half. Grandma and her dodgy clock to blame for that one methink.

No advice I'm afraid but will watch with interest. Is often about an hour in this house what with stories, dd rearranging bedding to create mermaid kingdom and various cons and protests.

Torkat · 03/04/2008 23:47

HI there my 3 yr old son has always been a nightmare sleeper but he seems the same the next day weather he has been in bed by 7pm or 10pm it seems to make no difference to him, just me as I go demented when I don't get my evenings! Have you tried starting the bedtime routine earlier so that he is in bed at an earlier time?

Flum · 03/04/2008 23:54

2 year old 7pm in this house. She is the first one to go,so quite quiet forher. Milk, story, teeth. Into cot. Night Night. 70% chatters to self happliy or goes straight to sleep, 20% grumbles, 10% goes balltic with crazy screaming.

lucky house big enough to remove self and others to sitting room, where we caqnnot hear her. She usually stops from exhaustion I guess.

Not much fart arsing around. I am usually very grumpy with children from 6.30pm as am ready fror a glass of wine and a quiet read on the sofa.

bedtime starts at 7, but the routine includes tidying up, sometimes a bath, milk, teeth, book and DP tucking DS in and talking to him for a bit - so it all takes about an hour. Usually he goes to sleep easily, but sometimes there can be an hour or two of repeated getting up / calling for us. The best way to make sure he falls asleep fast is to make sure he's had a lot of exercise.

I am also very short with them at bedtime, I've usually had enough by then. teeth, story, lights out. DS has a LOT of stalling tactics, but mostly I'm immune to them now. Lights out 7.15. They share a room now, so I can hear muttering, but at least I'm not involved. Not sure what time they finally sleep, varies.

God I'm rubbish at this. Anyone else?

DS (2.5) goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 most nights

nappyaddict · 04/04/2008 13:58

ds is 21 months and goes between 8:30 and 9.

castille · 04/04/2008 14:01

My DS is 20 months and he goes to bed between 8 and 9, depending on the length of his nap. He needs 12 hours at night, on the whole.

He's usually fine about bedtime - I read him a story, he goes in his cot, he chats to himself for a bit, he goes to sleep.

mankymummy · 04/04/2008 14:01

DS 2 and 7 months. Bath at 7pm, in bath for anything up to 40 minutes, straight up to bed for quick cuddle and milk. Lights out and he's out (usually!) like a light too.

JingleyJen · 04/04/2008 14:04

DS1&2 (nearly 4 and 18 months) have a bath at 6.30pm and after a good play in the bath, milk and a story they are both in bed by 7.15 and sleep for 12 hours.

sweetkitty · 04/04/2008 14:04

DD1 3.8yo and DD2 2.2yo both are in bed asleep by about 8pm. We start bedtime at about 7.20ish with jammies (if not having a bath), toast and milk, teeth, then upstairs for a stroy each at about 7.50pm. They don't have afternoon naps so are spark out by 8pm.

Usually up between 7.30 and 8am.

Sunshinemummy · 04/04/2008 14:08

DS is 2 and goes between 07:30-08:00. He's normally very good at going straight down. Bath at 07:00-07:15, followed by time in his room winding down, then we leave him with night light and sleeping music on (Air, Moon Safari). We started the music when we realised he didn't like going to bed in a quiet room.

DaDaDa · 04/04/2008 14:12

Bath starts running around 7.15, stories and milk in bedroom, lullaby, dimmer light. Usually asleep by 8.00. He's 18 months.

Dd 2.2, goes to bed 8-8:30 most nights, gets up around 6:30, no daytime naps.

spamm · 04/04/2008 14:19

Ds - 3 next week - goes for a bath at 6.30pm, then 10 mins tv, bed at 7pm with a story and a cuddle.

Dh goes up to tuck in and light out at about 7.15.

claireybee · 04/04/2008 14:20

DD usually goes to bed between 7.30 and 8. Pj's on, milk and into bed (we don't do a story at bedtime cos I have had enough by then!). Music on, light out, close the door on her and she settles herself to sleep. Up for the day at 8ish. She does wake up demanding milk at some point between 2 and 6am though so not perfect!

claireybee · 04/04/2008 14:22

Oh and the daytime nap vaires, often she won't have one, other times she'll have 3 hours! Makes no difference to the night time sleep

yummymummymybum · 06/04/2008 22:09
