6 month old waking hourly

Just looking for some reassurance/ other people’s opinions on what the hell is going on with my daughters sleep 🫠

She is nearly 7 months, but 6 months corrected and for the last week she has been waking hourly, sometimes every 40 minutes. She use to be so good on a night, only waking once or twice for a feed but now we are up 8-9 times a night!

She is breastfed and I always feed her to sleep but over the last week she has been waking up banging her legs, rubbing her face and turning her head side to side. She starts crying straight away and back arching, she sometimes settles by being rocked but mostly I feed her back to sleep.

I don’t know if it’s teething because she is dribbling loads and is putting EVERYTHING in her mouth, but calpol and bonjela seem to have no effect. The other thing I’m thinking is an allergy maybe? I am already dairy free as we suspect she has CMPA. I don’t know if I should ride it out and suspect it teething or start cutting more allergens out of my diet?

If it’s only been a week, I’d be tempted to ride it out a little longer. Just be there for her, doing all the great stuff you’re already doing!
Baby sleep changes all the time and can be down to so many different things. If it continues it might be worth getting her checked out - especially if you suspect pain.
I know it’s tough but sounds like you’re doing a good job! X

I would think its teething. It can often be worse at night because they aren't distracted. I'd try and ride it out and try some anbesol/teething powders to see if they make a difference.

Aw bless her. It could be an allergen from weaning and it could be teething, it's so hard to tell. I tend to think if painkillers help more likely to be teething whereas with my daughter's allergies/intolerances, Nurofen doesn't touch the sides.

We had this between 6 and 7 months- it wasn't teething it was developmental - starting to properly roll, sit and move towards crawling. Also getting ready to drop naps. It settled down after 7 months- I also breastfed but when he was waking hourly I started alternating wakes with my husband and he started to accept being rocked back to sleep. Hang in there, sleep changes all the time and it will get easier x

Totally normal I’d say - all four of my babies have started to be restless sleepers at 6-8months - going back to newborn stage almost.. it fades before a year.. I just kept feeding them back to sleep or winding them.. sharing with a partner also helps as lots of little feeds can also make them fussy - lots of wondering about at night cuddling and keeping upright. I always assumed teething - the pains in the jaw starts months before you see a tooth and bothers them at night more. Teething affects their digestion too, usually more windy which also affects sleep and isn’t helped by teething medication.. but as poster above says it coincides with rapid development stages too - active brain and active body - all needs processing at night it seems!
Just try to enjoy that time with them in the middle of the night.. don’t worry too much. Literally everything is a phase with babies (and with children) - even the good bits!
Obvs if you are genuinely worried after a few weeks go to GP - but if the baby is fine during the day I wouldn’t worry…

Hello @AWLaura1995 I’m going through what you’ve described above (inc the leg lifting and back arching!) and wondered how things have worked out for you? Hope you’re getting some sleep.
