7 week old suddenly doesn’t want to sleep in snuzpod.. silent reflux?

Looking for advice as I am seriously sleep deprived!

My baby girl is 6 and a half weeks old and in the last 8 or so days is refusing to sleep at night in her snuzpod. She’s always been fine with sleeping in it, other than if she has wind and likes to be walked around (but that’s the case with anything she sleeps on). I’m still 50/50 on whether she has silent reflux which could be irritating her when laying down (has some symptoms but not that many and mainly she doesn’t struggle with feed or cry during/after which I know is a big symptom of it) I feel as though her reaction is too quick for it to be because of silent reflux.

She has always been quite good at not always sleeping on us and I have also put her down for naps in the day in the next to me and she never previously had an issue. All of a sudden, whenever she’s in it she’s constantly thrashing around. A few days ago it was constant grunting/noises which has improved but she’s still always thrashing. Occasionally we get a cry but mostly not (although not sure I leave her long enough to tell) - I worry she’s in discomfort and won’t sleep so end up holding her. I’m worried I’m making it worse to do this… either way I feel I won’t sleep so it’s better for me to hold her so she at least does.

I really don’t know what has led her to this as she was previously fine & sleeps fine in the day not with us. Has anyone else had this issue and did anything help? I have seen suggestions on using Moses basket inside the snuzpod which I may try although she hasn’t actually ever slept in that.

I don’t expect perfect sleep but I’m really only getting an hour which is when she wakes at 2am ish and my fiancé takes her downstairs for a feed/burping etc and the sleep deprevation is really ruining my first time parent experience.

any help would be appreciated!

What other symptoms does she have that you think could be silent reflux?

My 3 month old took a while to be diagnosed as none of his symptoms are severe, but he's much happier and more settled now we are using gaviscon. I'm afraid to say sleep is still awful, I've just accepted the fact that he might just be a rubbish sleeper.

I feel you though, the sleep deprivation is like some form of torture. I feel like I've been awake more tonight than I've been asleep! My LO won't take a bottle so i have little opportunity for help during the night as all he wants is boob.

My DS is 9 weeks now, and is also quite a burpy sicky baby.

Until the last few weeks we could put him down asleep and he’d stay fast asleep. Now he often starts stirring and waking up as soon as he’s put down. I think it’s just because he’s getting more alert and aware. If we give him a dummy it usually helps settle him and he goes back to sleep/ stays asleep better. Worth a try if you haven’t already.

But also, don’t worry about thrashing - if she was uncomfortable she would cry. If she’s thrashing but asleep then I would leave her. I know it’s really hard to get to sleep yourself when the baby keeps moving around, I just try to ignore it as much as I can.

@Cindy1802 A combination of hiccups after feeds (not every time), congestion at night (although she doesn’t have this at night now and only sometimes during a feed), coughs either during a feed but more so at some point after (maybe around 10 mins later), bubbles/saliva, belly rumbling and grunting at night but again the grunting seems to have stopped and I think that it was her trapped wind which she also suffers from. Thats why I’m not really sure whether it is silent reflux, it’s so hard to tell but the main thing is she isn’t miserable during or after a feed. Was your baby unhappy with feeding? The HV did say to us it could be cows milk allergy and to try a different brand, I skipped a different brand and tried her brand but anti reflux - weirdly this really helped her wind but it gave her diarrhoea so I have had to go back to normal. Another thing to add is during the day she mostly sleeps okay, the thing that wakes her is wind otherwise she’d sleep well and generally falls asleep straight after a feed.

honestly it’s awful! I feel like we were lucky because apart from waking up from feeds she had no issues with sleeping at night but now it’s like she refuses to sleep in the next to me. Last night I tried keeping my hand on her chest and rubbing slightly with my thumb which did actually settle her but only lasted 20 minutes and she started again!

@DuploTrain I agree that I do think it’s partially because of the alertness increasing as we have also noticed this in the day, I have the app wonder weeks and it says at this “leap” they are developing so much more. With the dummy she will have it if she’s overtired and awake but spits out once she’s asleep, I have a feeling she wouldn’t be interested because if she falls asleep okay she doesn’t want it but I’ll definitely try!

Yeah a few people have said this to me too, I have just bought those special ear plugs that block out the noise but you still hear cries because otherwise I won’t get any sleep at all! It’s just weird how it’s developed and she never had a problem before!

Sounds like you formula feed to me? It's difficult to digest for her perhaps
