Tips for getting baby to sleep with arms out?

Hi I have a 14 week old and over the last couple of weeks Ive been trying to get him used to sleeping with his arms out of his Tommee tippee sleep bag.

Ive tried one arm out and just going cold turkey with both out but neither work. He instantly wakes himself by putting his hands to his mouth and gets more and more frustrated. If I rock him or settle him back to sleep it just starts the cycle over again. If I give in and put both arms back in he sleeps perfectly!

I know I have to expect some unsettled nights but he won’t settle to sleep at all at the moment. Any tips or advice would be great 😊

I suppose if the baby is starting to roll it could be dangerous having arms restricted

@MrsSchrute he’s getting to the age where he could start to roll so he has to have his arms out

Have you removed the arms while the baby is asleep initially? We were using a love to dream transition bag and did a couple of nights of putting him down with arms in and then removing once asleep and just then moved to putting down with arms out after a couple of days.

One of mine hated arms out. I think she was cold. I changed the sleep bag to slightly lower tog and put her in warmer things underneath including a cardigan or when warmer, a long sleeved sleep suit. Seemed to work. She still gets cold arms in late teens!!
