We have boards to prop into the windows - made up from MDF with foam around the edges. (we made them) Have just starting using them. We have these boards plus blinds and curtains. IT IS PITCH DARK. Both their windows are south facing.

we have black out blinds but ds2 is such a light sleeper. Dp wakes at 5:30am for work but tiptoes around but ds always wakes. He used to be so good. We are cutting his day sleep by hours to no avail, I know its usually a phase but...

we just go to bed early. you get used to being asleep just after 8pm. plenty of time to get things ready in the morning!

Piffle · 24/03/2008 18:56

not possible as have 14 yr old ds1 as well! We are doing earlier though... But ds2 still wakes for feed at 11pm so its so broken anyway.

yes it worked for us! after daylight saving DS slept later - I don't remember if it lasted forever but I definitely remember a difference. Was a great relief. 6am is soooo much more sociable than 5am - and CBeebies starts at 6!
Mind you come the autumn shift backwards it's a whole other sorry story...

yep aware of the possible pitfalls in 6 mths time.. However darkness will help!!!

I can't wait for the clock change. I too have a 5am waker. But he's also a 1.30 and 3.30 waker but 5.00 is morning for him. I really hope the clock change will help. Fingers crossed Piffle.

I live in hope about this every year but ds1 usually adjusts within a few days. This week he has been preparing in advance . He has woken up 10 minutes earlier each day over the last week. This morning it was 5.30am so by the time the clocks change we will probably be back to the usual 6.00am.

Arrrggggghhhhhh.

hayleybop · 25/03/2008 20:39

God I am not the only mother propping eye lids open with cotton buds at this time in the morning...I have been waiting for the clocks to change since i can remember, bring it on...5am will soon feel like 6am....Do you think we'll ever get a lye in again? maybe one day?

Piffle · 26/03/2008 21:49

you know life has gone tits up when 6:30am is considered a decent lie in...
feckin testing this early waking... Indeed
