Napping in a bouncer vs cot

Does anyone know, why does my 6 month old nap longer in a bouncer than her cot?

Udually I put her down in her cot for daytime naps but they rarely last longer then her first sleep cycle (32 or 41 minutes). However, if she naps in her bouncer she usually naps between 1.5-2 hours.

I understand that at around this age she should start to transition through sleep cycles easier but, she obviously can do it as she does in her bouncer. Why does lying in a cot makes a difference?

She sleeps quite well at night, sometimes all the way through but if not wakes up once.

Note the naps in a bouncer aren’t normal, she has just had a really bad cold and sleep was important for her to recover so I chose to let her nap in her bouncer.

Because the bouncer bounces, to lull her back to sleep!

Probably the same reason that mine slept in the pram. The movement lulls them back to sleep.

Would it not be because she's a little more snuggled in in the bouncer and slightly elevated at the back so she's just a little more snug and comfortable?

I think it's a combination of the angle and feeling held securely/strapped in. My dd always sleeps better when sat up a bit (in buggy for example) as opposed to laying free on a mattress. Even when there's no movement.

It's dangerous for baby to sleep in a bouncer! From the American Society of Pediatrics: A bouncer ... places the baby in a semi-upright position, which can pose a risk of positional asphyxiation.23 Aug 2023

Oh give it a rest. Please read my post.

how does it differ from sleeping in an upright pram when out and about.

most unhelpful.

Thanks all I think you’re all probably right. It’s the inability to thrash about.

Isn’t that related to overnight sleep and/or newborns? If a 6MO can sleep in the pram seat, the bouncer is exactly the same thing as far as position is concerned. It makes no sense anyway…

OP I have no idea but my babies were the same! Sleeping through overnight in the cot but couldn’t get a decent nap in there. I eventually realised it’s a blessing that there isn’t a preference for cot naps as it means no problem with napping on the go when you’re out all day.
