Sudden insomnia 12 year old

Hi, hoping someone might be able to help, as I'm feeling a bit desperate! My 12 year old daughter has recently all of a sudden started regularly struggling to get to sleep. She's never been a great sleeper from babyhood but has always got enough, no major problems. However the last few weeks she has had one or two nights per week where she just can't get to sleep for several hours. She gets very upset about it and this obviously prevents me from sleeping too and I'm feeling quite tired and no idea how to help her. She has a good bedtime routine, no screens for a good couple of hours before sleep, she reads before she goes to sleep. We've tried warm milk etc. She doesn't seem to have anything particular on her mind although there are always little dramas at school. She's otherwise generally healthy and happy, gets a reasonable amount of fresh air and exercise. She is on the CAMHS waiting list for an ASD assessment but this sleep issue is a very recent development. I'm at a bit of a loss!

Have you third journaling, soft music, sleep hypnosis tracks, sleep meditations, lying beside her?

Thanks for replying! She has a meditation CD she listens to but it doesn't seem to be working. I don't think she really listens to the guided meditations and she's had it so long perhaps she is too used to it. I'm thinking of trying some white noise perhaps. I've offered to sleep in her room but she doesn't want that, she likes her own space!

I would suggest to you it's an influx of new hormones that could be contributing to the insomnia. A good sleep hygiene routine might help and no screens passed 9 pm
