4 month old sleeping on tummy

Looking for reassurance before I sit up all night watching DS like a hawk!
DS is four months old, sleeps in a SnuZpod side of the bed. Put him down this evening, baby monitor on, checking on him every 10 minutes regardless of whether there was stirring on the monitor just as I struggle to relax if I don’t. Went in and he was asleep on his belly, head to the side but couldn’t see until I rushed over to him that he was happily snoozing.

He is able to roll from his back to front with ease, however he’s not yet learnt how to roll front to back. I’m laying in bed next to his bedside crib now and he’s just rolled onto his front again, and I’m scared to fall asleep in case he ends up with his face smooshed into the mattress.

Some reassurance that this is normal would be amazing as I fear I won’t sleep tonight otherwise! His head is safely to the side and he seems comfy, I just worry!

Please don’t worry. If your baby son is able to put himself in this position and turn his head to the side - he’ll be fine.
BTW I always laid my babies on their fronts as they seemed to prefer that. Also if they vomit they’re less likely to inhale as head/face is to the side.
Enjoy your baby

@Froniga Thank you so much, sorry it took me a while to reply I didn’t sleep much and brain been a bit a scrambled today! Thank you for being reassuring, you’re right he seems comfy on his tummy and his breathing is fine so I think I just need to chill! Was up all night except for 1.5 hours so I could keep flipping him onto his back and it was just a bit silly as he must be comfy like it!

A bit late but yes, if he's able to get himself on to tummy then he's definitely able to move out of position, he's perfectly fine Smile
