Hi, I am the father of 4 children. (24,20,17 and 5).
Our youngest is adopted and really struggles with her sleep. She has been with us for 18 months now and we are currently co sleeping (which is giving us some respite).
I have spent the last year exploring ways to help improve children's sleep (and ultimately assist parents and families to function). It is very clear to me from extensive discussions with academia and parents who are struggling, that many children have experienced some level of (t)trauma (with a lowercase t) that impacts their sleep. By that I mean that daily anxiety around school, challenges with friendships, parents splitting up, stress in the home and many other factors can immediately impact a child's ability to sleep. I am launching a business in the sleep space and would really appreciate your input on the following questions;
- Would you be open to take part in a self administered 2 week sleep study with your child at home?
- Do you connect with other parents online for advise and tactics around your childs sleep?
- Would you consider paying for devices that assist with your childs sleep (such as story devices, red light devices, white noise machines). If so which in particular interest you or you have already?
- Would you be open to using artificial supplements to aid your childs sleep (such as melatonin)?
Thanks so much in advance. All feedback will be greatly welcomed and help as we try and help struggling parents to tackle their children's sleep challenges.
