Worried about putting baby on front

My 5 month old has been rolling onto her front to sleep since she was 3.5 months.

Recently, we are finding that if we put her down on her back (either asleep or awake but drowsy), she immediately wakes herself up as she starts to roll onto her front and we have to start the whole bedtime process again. However if she is put down on her front she settles herself off to sleep.

She can roll back to front and front to back on one side. She spends most of the day rolling on her playmat (she always wants to be on her front) and can push her arms and head up to look around the room.

Putting baby’s down on their fronts is just such a big no no when it comes to SIDS and I am so uncomfortable with this, but on the same breath it’s exhausting trying to settle her on her back and her waking herself up rolling over.

If she is going to roll over immediately, what is the difference between her rolling onto her front once she’s put in her cot vs being placed on her front?

Mine are toddlers now but I’m sure the guidance said that it’s fine once they can roll by themselves? At 5 months, my daughter was rolling and sleeping however she liked. We’d but her on her front and she’d go on her back. I’d leave her but check her throughout the night for peace of mind

At 5 months my son was doing this. He is now 3 and still settles to sleep on his tummy. Your daughter sounds like a good roller and there will be no stopping her in a week or two! Personally I would up confidence by letting her nap on her tummy in the day so you can keep an eye, and as long as her sleep space is empty apart from a fitted sheet, I would then progress to putting her down like that at night. This is only my opinion though, you must only do what you feel comfortable with as you know your DD best.
