Nearly six month old awake for hours in the night

DD is 5.5 months old and for the past month or so has been waking at 1 and not going back to sleep until half 2/3, by which time I’m thoroughly awake. I don’t mind feeding her but I am a bit bewildered because she was sometimes sleeping through or going until 3/4 in the morning before this.

She also doesn’t feed well during the day which I think may be because she’s filling up at night. It takes a long time for her to accept her first feed, often only having it at around 10 am or even later. She usually has six feeds a day of 4/5 oz and has a dream feed at 10 ish. I would give her bigger feeds but she just can’t seem to manage them.

I am planning to start her on some solids in a week or two so hoping I may see an improvement then but I’m not getting the feeling it’s related to hunger. Any advice?

What's her sleep like during the day? How many naps does she take and for how long? What time is bedtime?

Sometimes it's just a sleep regression - has she been doing it long or is it a recent thing?

DD is 10m and usually a good sleeper but she's started waking in the night again (hence me being awake at 3am yay)

Randomly our baby sleeps much better without the dream feed - it’s almost like it disturbs him from a deep sleep and when we cut that out he slept so much better. I also remember a phase where he did this waking in the night and wanting to play/chat and after a couple of weeks he just stopped.

She’s usually on three naps a day but they are of varying length. I have a three year old as well so she often ends up napping in the car on the way to somewhere. One of the problems is that if she’s woken from a nap it’s generally pretty much impossible to get her back down - you just have to wait until the next nap is due. (DS was the same.)

So for example today / yesterday she woke at half five and was dozing off again an hour later but then her brother woke up which woke her up. So she went back to sleep at 9 for about an hour. She then had a short lunchtime nap and a longer nap 330-445.

Ideally her long nap would be in the morning but that’s generally impractical!

I hope it stops soon @AliceinSlumberland - so tired!
