Baby CONSTANTLY rolling in cot!

My 5mo little girl naps in her cot and still sleeps in her next to me crib. She loves to roll back to front but struggles to roll back again. Every time I put her in her cot, she rolls onto her tummy and then gets hysterical until I go in and roll her back over. I am flipping her back over anything you to 20 times per nap! This is obviously really frustrating and means it can take ages to get her to go to sleep. Any advice? TIA xx

My DS, I discovered about 3 weeks of zero sleep, was a side sleeper. I worried about him rolling over so I wedged two rolled up towels under the moses basket fitted sheet - would that work? So she can't roll over and 'get stuck '

If she can roll leave her be.

Just make sure her cot is clear so no cot bumpers, mobiles, bed covers etc she can get caught in.

After learning to roll.around my DD use to crawl around her cot at night.

Does she get lots of time on her tummy during the day? It won't be long and she'll roll front to back. Does she have space to roll back?

Is she sleeping in the next to me or a cot. Sorry not sure from your post, but just thinking that she might not have enough room to manage another roll in the next to me. Also plenty of tummy time during the day, if she’ll tolerate it, will help her learn.

Work with her during tummy time on going the other way. Typically once a baby starts rolling from back to front, the other way follows within a couple or three weeks.

Thank you for the suggestion. I don't think it would stop her unfortunately. She rolls very easily on her anti roll changing mat! 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes, I've been doing a lot of tummy time with her to give her the opportunity to learn to roll back but no joy so far. She has plenty of space in her cot to roll back but can't seem to work out how, bless her.

Sorry for my confusing ramble! At night she's in the next to me with not enough room to roll either way so it's not a problem. It's just in the cot when she's got lots of space for her daytime naps.

Thank you. She's been rolling back to front since she was 3mo but still can't go the other way without help! Poor things gets so frustrated!

Ohhh in that case why not just have her nap in the next to me? Or the pram? I don’t know that I’d bother with naps in the cot if it’s causing that much of a problem.

My dc was the same at around 4 months. I'm a solo parent and had very little sleep for about 3 weeks. Every time I got woken up I turned dc back until I reached a new level of sleep deprivation. After that I had to just keep a close eye on dc and allow them to sleep on their tummy if they turned over. Thankfully for me it was only a few days more until they learnt how to turn back over. My dc was also a rascal for moving around the cot bed. They used the cot bars as a ladder to move from the foot of the bed to the head in their sleep. Good luck. Just remember that this phase with pass x
