Toddler waking a lot at night with wet nappy

Hello,

Wondered if anyone had advice...

Our daughter is three. We potty trained her last summer but now she wears nighttime nappies. The problem is she's waking several times a night as she wets the nappy and doesn't like the feeling (understandably) of wee against her skin. We also have a newborn so this is exhausting for all of us. The toilet is too far from her room and involves stairs so she can't go to the bathroom on her own. Thought about trying to train her to use a potty next to her bed...can't see that being easy but will try. Have obviously tried to limit water close to bed...

Any advice?

Thanks in advance...

I wouldn't limit water. I'd take her to the toilet and change her nappy before you go to bed. I'd also go up a nappy size.

Many people use the 6pm window - after this time no food or drink.

make sure she has plenty of fluid before that time though

can you lift her into the potty before you go to bed?

Thanks both. Will try lifting her onto the potty... good idea.

Our daughter had a potty in her room at night for a while. She'd wake and use it and go back to sleep without disturbing it and we'd just empty it in the morning. After it was more often empty than not we took it away and had no accidents. We now take her for a wee before bed and she does one first thing. She's also 3.

Bet wetting is about a hormone called vasopressin, it's perhaps not settled yet in your child, it varies when the balance is correct to suppress urine production at night. Don't restrict water or drinks
