11 month old waking! Help me!

I need some advice before I lose my mind.

My 11 month old suddenly won't sleep through the night. He seems to be waking up between 3-4, last 3 nights at EXACTLY 4:21am. Screaming hysterically for a long time, then just seems to be up for the day from 5. He's waking up my 5 year old too.

it's not really made better when I go in and pick him up ( he's not a big cuddler)

I'm back at work and I'm so tired, I know it could be worse but I'm struggling.

He naps twice a day at 9:15am for an hour

And then 1pm-3pm. Limiting the naps doesn't seem to make a difference. He can't nap any later as I need to do the school run.

He also eats well and has 3 bottles a day

Has anyone experienced this before?

My 13 month old has never slept through... which is normal.

Yeah my 14 month old has never slept through either, you'll be fine just go with it 😂

chrij91 · 06/12/2023 08:06

While I get it might be normal, he had always slept through and it's not normal for a 5 year old to be woke up between 3-4am and then go to school for the day. So I need to try something, if anyone has any useful advice 😬

Hmmm the exact time is weird, something must be happening. Set your alarm for 4:15, get in babies room and be ready to either hear what it is scaring them (alarm in neighbhour house/ heating clicking on) and then reassure them quick so no screaming

I hate comments like well my child's never slept through so deal with it. If your child goes from sleeping through to not then it is a big deal. Could it be the temp OP? I read somewhere waking up after 4/5 could be because there too hot or cold. Hope he starts sleeping normally again soon x

Teeth? Night terrors? Mine have all had awful night terrors.
but I agree with they just wake up and you do just have to deal with it. Sorry

Would he go back to sleep if you put him in your bed? Mine always woke in early hours, we let him come in with us and all slept.

I know me too😂 I honestly believe children should just sleep through and let me rest 😂

It is really weird, it's not just waking up either it's screaming hysterically. I tried not having the heating coming on last night and it still happened! It's usually warm so I don't think it's the heat, the only thing I think that could have changed is the milk. He's had 1 bottle of normal milk a day.

He won't sleep in my bed either and he just tries to escape 🙃

I'm so sorry, I am going through the same thing- my baby (just turned one) will often wake for the day around 4:30am. She's gone through phases of doing it, then not doing it, then doing it again- I assume it's just developmental. I cope by just going to bed really early and by bringing her into bed with me when she wakes up- she will sometimes go back to sleep for a bit, but often not.
