My four month old will just not sleep for more than 2-3 hours at a time. I'm exhausted, I'm fed up & I feel helpless. My partner bless him tries to help but DC just becomes hysterical if it's not me holding her.

She'll sleep in her crib for her naps no bother but I need her to sleep for more than 1-3 hours at a time.

Last night was a flook, she slept 6-12am then up for a very short while only drank an ounce even if that, back up at 4 then again at 6, slept in beside me until 9.

You'd think I'd the answers by having a one year old but she slept through the night very early on.

I just feel like a former shadow of myself.

Help!!!!!!

Thanks.

Unfortunately this sounds very very normal, it’s probably more abnormal that your 1yo slept through early on, so this is more of a shock to the system. Four months is notorious for bad sleep, they’re coming out of the sleepy newborn phase and aren’t too good at connecting their sleep cycles. Make sure you have a good bedtime routine, keep an eye on wake windows during the day to make sure they’re not over tired, and other than that do whatever you can to make life easier for yourself during the day until this phase is over.

She's definitely over tired. Her wake windows are far too long.

From tomorrow we're getting out in the pram because she sleeps so well in that. Hopefully then we will notice a difference.

We try to do bath bottle & bed by 7pm every night.

It's like she doesn't know how to sleep. Shes been awake for hours!

Sorry OP, it does sound very normal. Mine didn’t sleep longer than 2-3 hours at a time until they were about 12/13months. But lots sleep better much sooner so you may get lucky again!

My only advice is to make life easier for yourself now - go to bed early, sleep whenever you can, try and get both children to nap at the same time. Cook meals (they do discounts for new parents) for days when DH can’t help with cooking, lower standards in house and prioritise laundry, kitchen, and bathrooms for cleaning. Keep chocolate on your bedside table for really tough nights!

@justanothermanicmonday1 my little girl is 14 months and still wakes up like this every night. A baby waking like this at 4 months old is very normal
