What to dress 3m old when heating is on and temp changes?

How should I dress my 12 week old for bed at night when the heating is on? And the temperature changes throughout the night?

Without the heating on our bedroom can get as low as 13 degrees when the heating is off during the winter.

Our heating is now on a timer for bed time and it gets to 18/19 max while on.. however I cannot afford to run the heating on all through the night. The room looses heat to about 15 degrees in the middle of the night and then back up to 18ish when the heating comes back on again in the morning.

We have the tommee tippee grow egg which changes colour when the room gets too hot/cold. When I check on the baby throughout the night she is freezing! But her grow bag instructions indicate dressing her in a sleepsuit only at 18/19 degrees. I have a few different tog sleep bags but never know what to put her down in as it's a lot warmer going to bed than it is during the night.

Hope this makes sense!

** we have invested a good amount of money into keeping the heat in.. windows, curtains etc. but is hard to keep heat in.

Can't change room as there is a radiator too close to where crib would stay.

That's really cold! Baby definitely needs a long sleeved vest, baby grow and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag when it's that cold .. I always have to pop an extra blanket over mine in bed too when it drops colder

My heating is on and my house is warmer than yours but when my little one was 3 months she was dressed in a vest, sleep suit and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. I also checked the temperature throughout the night, checking her chest and back incase she was too hot or cold.

There are a few heating charts online which suggest what a baby should be wearing for different temperatures. The lullaby trust website is also good for double checking things.

I find the tommee tippee guide good but can err on the side of caution and keep them quite cool!

Our room is about 17 degrees now and can drop to 16ish and 4 month old is in vest, baby grow and 2.5 tog bag. I swapped to a long sleeve vest now too as I think she was quite cold. I was and I’m in fluffy pjs and under a duvet!

I’ve allways done a vest, sleepsuit and 2.5tog bag.
If the baby is too cold they’ll definitely wake up better to be too cold than too warm of you ask me.

Sounds familiar! I've been putting LO in vest, sleepsuit and grobag - 1 tog if night starts at 18 degrees and then switching to 2.5 tog if temp drops or LO feels cool when they wake for a night feed/nappy change. We're usually up before the room heats up again in the morning, but it doesn't tend to get back to 18 again until the evening.

I've found the infographic here a useful guide: https://www.babycenter.com.au/a25024140/what-should-my-baby-wear-at-night-infographic
