Almost 10 month naps a disaster

Our baby has only ever napped for 30 mins. Now he’s almost 10mo and only has 2 measly (30 min) naps a day, and really fights the second one.
I could really really do with a bit more of a break in the day, even an hour would be bliss! The thought of him cutting down to one 30 min nap is frankly a little horrifying. Any ideas for how to lengthen these naps??

In all other ways he’s a delight. He self settles for naps and bedtime. After a looong 9 months he’s just started sleeping through the night, bedtime is solid (7pm), usually wakes at a civilised time (6-7am).

Oof thats tough,

Is he in a quiet dark space? And is his belly filled/nappy changed just before naps? (I know these are all obvious so you probably thought of it)

just actually came here to say that since i did a bit of sleep training and my 11 month slept better at night, he suddenly dropped his second nap. I think if they rest better at night they just dont need it anymore. Maybe make bed time slightly earlier so you have more of a break in the evening?

Thank you so much for getting back to me @Sweetestp ! Yes he’s generally in his cot, quiet and dark, maybe I need to feed him more before his naps.. worth a go! Thanks :)

Honestly the long nap thing is a myth, some babies just dont. I get that you would like more time in the day but if you're getting good sleep overnight you're in a great position. Maybe when they drop to one they'll sleep longer for the nap with more sleep pressure? Also most babies average 9-11hrs overnight and yours is doing the top end of that so maybe they just don't need the daytime sleep?
