Sleeping bag dilemma - tips needed!

My DD is 19 mo and used to have a sleepsack but during the summer has just been in a sleepsuit no problem. Obviously tonight it's a lot colder so she's in a sleepsack but she keeps waking up annoyed, I think she feels restricted.

Do I persist? She's just started sleeping through so I desperately don't want to do anything to upset her in the night. I have a space heater so could use that to heat the room and keep her in just a sleepsuit but not sure if that's ideal? Is she too young for a duvet? She kicks off a blanket so I'm inclined to think she'd do the same. Anyone in a similar boat?

Silly question but is the sleep sack too small or too thick maybe? We used to use those merino ones which were massive but also quite thin so didn’t restrict moving around in bed at all.

You could try putting the blanket sideways and tuck the ends under the mattrress so she doesn’t kick it off?

Not too young for a duvet. Maximum tog recommended is 4.5tog

Or try a sleeping bag with legs

Khvdrt · 14/10/2023 22:59

If just move to a duvet; mine kicks it off so has fleece pjs to keep him warm

Do the sleeping bags with legs, then they won't feel restricted. I wouldn't use a standard sleeping bag once they can walk anyway

My 12mo has a duvet. Just don't put her arms underneath it so she can't pull it over her head. The toddler ones are brilliant 😀

At 19 months I'd ditch the bag for a duvet.

You can get cot/ cot bed sized ones.

Actually its 2.5 tog for under 2. Where can I get a sleeping bag with legs? Mine kicks duvet off alot so that sounds brilliant

Ok thanks everyone, seems like duvet is the way to go! Will order one now

I have never seen a recommendation for 2.5tog for under 2s

Toddler duvets tend to be 4tog and suitable from age 1

octodrive · 14/10/2023 23:16

I just used blankets and added/removed as needed

We have them from Tu at Sainsburys . DD still needs a night nappy change so the poppers drive me bonkers, but she is very happy in them. Doesn’t look as cute, but does look super cosy.

Results for 2.5 tog

Shop Tu online. Free in-store Click & Collect or 3-5 day/next day Home Delivery on all orders.

Duvet and possibly a thin toddler pillow. Less of a health hazard if she starts wandering at night. They soon learn to snuggle down into them when it gets cold.

Workawayxx · 15/10/2023 12:48

I think we did sleep suit with long sleeve vest under and a blanket/thin duvet. I also bought a fleece sleep suit (next) but never needed it.

slumbersacs are fab

Sleep bag with legs.
DD is just over 2 and still in a sleep bag with legs and she's fine
