transfer of daytime naps from pushchair/car to cot -help!

my 14 dd who is a bad daytime napper anyway will only go to sleep in her pushchair or in the car. How can I get her to have one good sleep, or even 2 decent sleeps in her cot during the day.
Currently she will generally sleep for 30 - 40 mins in the morning - either in the car or in her buggy if we're going somewhere, and then again in the afternoon - although sometimes she may only have one nap but always in the car or buggy. I have tried a couple of times to put her in her cot, but she goes ballistic - and screams for ages, I ended up getting so stressed that I get her up. Has anyone experienced the same and have any tips or advice?

maybe shes confused as to being put in cot during the day. i dont know how you could get around this. i used to let my dd sleep on the couch, she still does and is now 26 mths.

Are these regular naps ie similar times/routine each day. Perhaps she is overtired or not tired enough when you try to put her down. She is probably also on the cusp of only needing one nap so perhaps pick a time, such as mid morning or after lunch when she may be most in need and work on that.

You may find that once you establish a clearer pattern to her day she is more willing to go down. Be firm that it is time to sleep, give lots of cues and reassurance that you are still around. If it is clear she won't settle in her cot , can you take her in her buggy aroudn the block and leave her to nap in it in the house, at least while you adjust to a pattern.

good luck

My friend had this problem. She was advised to give the baby the same signals that it was time for a sleep as at bedtime. She started zipping her into her Grobag during the daytime and bingo! it worked. Good luck

I did try zipping her into her grobag - didn't work.
It's hard to have a regular routine as I also have a 3 year old who is at pre-school and various clubs as well... hence being in and out of the car/buggy - tricky.
I thought that I could try and get her to have a sleep at lunchtime as we are 90% always around then...

Santaclausfrau - sounds like a great idea! If only I could get my two to sleep in sync!!!
How old was your ds at the time? Does he still only sleep in the car, or is he older now?

you are not alone santaclausfrau, both of mine, dd1 is 3, get up between 5.30 and 6.00am! but they are generally in bed asleep before 7.00pm so at least we get an evening.
