Help! Is this a split night?

For the past 8 weeks my now 14 month old has been waking in the night, sometime from midnight - 1am, and staying awake for up to 2 hours. She cries and cries hysterically basically until she passes out. Nothing seems to help, we've tried water, milk, calpol, putting her in our bed. It's as though until 2 hours is up she just can't sleep. The 2 hours are usually spent stood up holding her until she's able to be put down, which takes lots of attempts. After this she will go back down and sleep soundly till morning.

Nap length doesn't seem to change anything. Some days will be 2 naps, others 1 nap. They can total from 1.5 hours - 3 hours in total but nights are always the same. She wakes around 7am no matter what and goes to bed around 7.30pm. She still has a bottle before bed for comfort mostly.

Any ideas what we can do to help her? It's so distressing hearing her cry like this every night (not to mention exhausting for everyone involved!)

Yup I went through this with my twins - lots of hours spent watching Disney channel downstairs on the tv x

Could she be cutting a tooth OP? My LO went through this as well for what felt like months as it was and is one tooth after another.

The only thing that really helped was Ibrofen/nurofen. A dentist recommended it as worked better than just standard calpol. We used this along with teething gel or the Ashton & parsons powders for the gums.

It's hard going. I feel you. Our LO who is now 18 months old has got into the habit of coming into our bed every night since her little sister was born. We're moving house next week so plan to knock this on the head since she will have her own room.

😂 the joys xx

I could have written your post about tonight. I am currently in with our 10 month old, and she is now asleep after 1.5 hours of non stop tears and sick.
She is a bit poorly though, and a potential tooth.

She could be teething, she only has 4 so we are definitely due some more! I'd expect at least one to have popped through in the 8 weeks that it's been happening if it was the teeth though

I could have written this exact post as well. It’s why I’ve come on here, to get help with split nights.
Our 18 month old has never been the best sleeper but had improved until last week when he had 5 split nights including last night. Awake at 11pm-2:30am. He wakes up absolutely sobbing and every time we dare to put back in the cot he screams. Nothing we do works either except holding him standing up (exhausting) until he eventually gives in and goes back to sleep until the morning.
It’s soul destroying and we have tried everything. I really hope it’s teeth (he is due some) but I wish there was a solution as he’s getting so overtired and he has to go to nursery so I can’t just nap him longer at home.
sorry I can’t offer advice but you’re not alone.

It really sounds like teeth or a leap of some kind, waking her up when she’d much rather not be!!

Unless she’s being disturbed somehow…?

i hope the phase passes quickly for you. Middle of the night parties are the worst
