Late afternoon nap causing early waking?

My 6 month DTs are very sleepy babies and have only just staryed being able to stay awake for 2 hours at a time without eye rubbing, grizzling, etc. When they are rested they are happy little things so I am hesitant to deny them their sleep during the day, however, they are starting to wake earlier and earlier in the morning...it was 8am for a few weeks (a luxury , I know!), then it moved to around 7ish and now it's starting to creep towards the 6am mark. Now I know that on the grand scale of things this isn't bad but I did wonder if their later afternoon nap was casuing them to wake early.

Their daily routine (although it varies enormously!) is roughly this:

7am - wake/bf
8/8:15am - nap for 45 mins (they really can't seem to stretch any longer than this without getting tired)
10am - bf
11am - nap (sometimes 2 hours, more often 1.5 hours)
1pm - bf followed by solids a little while later (only just started weaning)
3pm - nap (anywhere from 45 mins - 1.5 hours)
4pmish - bf
5:30pm - catnap of no longer than 30 mins
6pm - bf
6:30pm - bath
7pm - bf then bed

They wake for a feed between 10 - 11pm and then again usually between 2 - 4am (this is down from 3 night wakings a week or so ago!)...then up at 6am.

Sorry for being long-winded but am not sure what to do about that last nap of the day!!

TIA

sorry no advice but thought you deserved a bump (hats off: you must be exhausted). All my sleep efforts with dses have been trial and error so hope someone comes along soon with some constructive advice. Good luck btw.

I had that problem with my DD2 (who like yours couldn't manage very long between naps) but it was always tricky trying to fit all the naps and feeds in each day that she needed. Could you try and move their bedtime a bit later - say 7.30/8pm and see if that helps - as they are only awake for an hour before bed.

Or, reshuffle the whole day (and maybe make bedtime a bit earlier) so that they are only having 3 naps a day (which might mean re-arranging feed times a bit) so e.g

Wake at 7am and feed
Nap at 8.30 til 9.30
Feed at 10am
Nap from 11 - 1pm
Feed on waking
Nap from 3 - 4
Feed
6.30 Feed and Bed?

All times are "ish" by the way

Mine can now go 3 hours between naps (7.5 months) and it makes life soooooooooooooo much easier! I can actually leave the house!
