Stupidly early wake ups

DS (2 years 8 months) keeps waking at half four. A lie in is half five.

We’ve tried earlier bedtime, later bedtime, no nap, blackout curtains (he’s had those pretty much since he went into his own room) and had no joy.

It has always been miserable and horrid but now we have a newborn there’s an extra layer of misery. Everyone is sick with tiredness.

Is this something a sleep consultant can help with? I don’t want or need 7-7 but 6 onwards!

No good news for you here. That’s how my 6 yr old always was. 6 years on and he now sleeps until 6am which is absolutely luxury but I now have an 18 months old who thinks 4.30am is a fine time to wake the whole house. DH is a person who doesn’t need that much sleep to function whereas I can’t get enough of it. I think some kids just don’t need as much sleep 😩

It’s horrible. Solidarity. I have to admit I suspected as much but the frustrating thing is DS does need the sleep, he’s exhausted and bad tempered from not getting it!

What happens of you just leave him to it when he wakes?

He’d cry until we got him up.

Blissful baby expert sleep expert, she’s worth her weight in gold! My almost 4 year old has slept 7-6:30/7am since 6 months old with her support. The only time we get an early wake up is when she’s sick and the odd day when the clocks change.
