Moving toddler from cot to bed / sharing room with baby

Hi

I have a DD who has just turned 2 and currently is still in a cot (just a cot, does not convert to a bed/sides don't come off). She is still well within the height/weight for it and has never shown any signs of trying to climb out. For almost a year now she has slept really well at night. She goes off to sleep with no trouble at 7.30pm and wakes up around 6/6.30am but normally spends upwards of an hour babbling away to her teddies before wanting to get up for the day. We also have a 4 month old baby who currently sleeps in our room in a crib but I think that within the next 1-2 months they will have outgrown it and need to be moved in to a cot.

What we are trying to figure out at the moment is if we should just buy another cot for the baby to go in (our room is big enough to have a full sized cot next to our bed) and keep DD in her cot for now or whether DDs cot goes to the baby and we transition DD to toddler bed now?

The other thing to consider is that they will both be sharing a bedroom (we live in a 2 bed). If we do transition the toddler to a bed, is it best to do it now before trying to move the baby in there too? We are happy to keep baby In with us for as long as necessary. Their bedroom is big enough for a toddler bed and a cot or 2 x toddler beds, but not big enough for 2 single beds so eventually we will be putting bunk beds in there.

Not sure what to do for the best so any advice appreciated :)

I'd get her a toddler bed and pop little one in cot. Sounds like be easier and in long run cheaper than buying another cot
