Baby grunting at 5am every morning but still asleep

Hi, our 6wk old sleeps around 10pm-2am for a feed, then straight back to sleep after feed. Around 5am every morning she will start flailing her arms and legs around (although she is in a grobag, with arms out) and start grunting and making all sorts of sounds. When I look over she is still asleep and has eyes closed. Soon as I pick her up and put her on our bed or on my chest she stops and goes back to sleep until 7. This is fine for now but I don’t want to get her used to this, does anyone know why she might be doing this same time every morning or had anything similar.

thanks

I have no idea but mine both did this too. My mantra is never disturb a sleeping baby so I just pushed the cot to the other side of our room so I wouldn’t hear it 🤣

Stop picking her up right away. Grunting, flailing around is totally normal. You need to see if she will get herself back to sleep.

Rather than pick her up, try resting a hand on her tummy for a couple of minutes. Easy if you have a next to me crib or are co-sleeping. Not so easy if you don’t.

Look up infant dyschezia. Basically their digestion systems are learning to work. It’s harmless and she’ll grow out of it in a few weeks.

Stop picking her up! Babies spend a lot of time in active sleep, and parents who haven't read up on it are disturbing this by picking the babies up.

If baby isn't crying/upset let them be

Babies are noisy and restless when they sleep, I moved DD out into her room as soon as possible.
