When do toddlers stop being such wriggly sleepers?!

Moved DS (2yrs) to 'big boys bed' on Wed to free up cot for no 2 due Jan. All ok apart from he keeps waking up cold as he wriggles up onto the pillow while asleep. So its not a problem of the duvet moving but a problem of a wriggly little boy moving!! Just wondered if there was a general age when wriggly toddlers become less wriggly when sleeping? If the answer is never then has anyone got any suggestions for keeping DS warm during the night in his new bed??

(Used sleeping bags when he was in a cot however feel that I don't want to use these in a bed in case he falls out and can't get up very easily coz the of sleeping bag.)

Thanks in advance!!

we have this problem with DD, we sometimes use a thick fleecey sleepsuit, or we wrap her in a blanket under her covers. The sleepsuit is the more sucessful and as it has feet she is free to wandle around in it.

Can't help really, as ds1 (3) stills wriggles about and uncovers himself. I put the covers back on him when I go to bed, and hope he doesn't wake up cold - as then he'll come and climb in with us.
Could you put extra clothes on him - a vest under pjs maybe, so that he's a bit warmer. What about sheet and blanket, as its a bit more difficult to wriggle out of.

My 2.5yo DD is just as wriggly at night, and she has been in a bed now for past year and no better! We have just bought her a single sized duvet for her toddler bed. It is big enough to stay on and over her most of the time.

DD is quite a "hot" child though and doesn't really feel the cold much. I fugure that she's able to wriggle ina nd out fot he covers as muchas she eeds, and at the moment she will only wear girly nighties anyway - but the bigger cover on her bed is better.

There's a thread somehwere about duvet clips - for keeping the covers on and in position.

DD1 is 4 in a couple of weeks and for about the past 6 months has been much less wriggly. DD2 (2yro) wriggles for England. As has been said before - try and make sure she has a fleecy all-in-one on for bed.

Kind of a babygro for toddlers then?!?!
I presume they're sold as a kind of dressing gown? DS has jamies but they're ordinary cotton. Did put socks on him last night but don't really want to constrict his little feet in socks at night. Sounds like fleecy all in ones are the way to go.

I'll prob be posting again in a week 'DS too hot in bed'!! Wink

Thanks for the suggestions.

I read on another thread about turning the duvet sideways. A couple of people said this worked.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the fleecy all in one has WORKED!!!!

Bought one yesterday (£11 from Sainsburys - hideous but cheap enough) which we put on DS last night and its the first night since moving into his big bed that he hasn't disturbed in the night!!

HURRAH!! Thanks everyone!!
