Don't really know what I'm asking but it's about travel cots!

I'm going on holiday in a week, with 8 month old DD. Whilst being very excited about our first holiday abroad, I am also a little anxious about how well DD will sleep in the travel cot provided by the chalet.
Basically she does not sleep well at all in travel cots. When I say 'not well', I mean she takes hours and hours to settle, then wakes hourly throughout the night, very upset upon realising her surroundings. This is very different to her 'home' sleeping, where she settles easily, waking once or twice a night for feeding, but again resettles easily.
The last time she was in a travel cot was at Christmas, so I am praying things have got better - but if they haven't... has anyone got any tips on getting through the week...
Also - any tips about taking babies on skiing holidays? She's got some cute sunnies already! Thanks.

Never been skiing so can't comment on the holiday BUT regarding travel cots, then I would say make the travel cot as inviting as possible by putting all the bits and bobs that she regularly sleeps with at home in there. Try a sheet that you have slept with already so it smells of Mummy (very comforting). Can you try getting her to sleep in a travel cot before the holiday so she could get used to it and it wouldn't be such a shock when you're away.

My DD is also 8 months and because she was feeding frequently in the night until recently, I opted to keep her in my bedroom in a travel cot, rather than put her in the cotbed in the spare room. On the plus side, this has meant that she is well used to travel cots. However this did not stop her sleeping v poorly in the travel cot when we went on holiday lately. We even took our own travel cot with us, but I guess she was just unsettled. She slept well only when in the bed with us- and that, in short, is what would suggest that you try doing while youre away. If thats the only way you can all get a good sleep then why not do it. I felt that our holiday was a really great break with routine, we all felt closer for being cuddled up, the sleep was broken for sure, but much less than if we'd spent all night yo-yoing her back into the cot after soothing her. Although perhaps this was easier for me cos I am still breastfeeding so I had an easy way of soothing her. But you could use a soother? I think do whatever makes things easier for you, its a holiday after all, and dont worry about her getting bad habits, just let all you let your hair down!

I dont know if you have co-slept before with your DD but at 8 months its a lot less worrying as she will be so much more able physically.
