What tog rating for duvet for 3 year old?

We are going to turn our daughters cot bed into a bed when she turns 3 in a couple of weeks. She's been in a warm grobag, with a blanket, and I was going to get a single duvet for the bed and tuck it round the sides to keep her cozy. And opinions on what tog? I've seen one in organic cotton (polyester filled) that's 12tog and am inclined to go for that, but maybe 10 tog is better. Her room is quite cold and she had a cardigan on as well until recently. What have people's experience been?

We have a 10 for winter and a 4 for summer (DD is nearly 4), but it's a very warm house.

I think the children's duvets are fairly low tog. I have to be honest I didnt know which to get so bought one marketed for children to be on the safe side. It was fairly cheap as I figured he would probably ruin it when we try for dry nights!

we have 10.5tog for colder months and 4.5tog for summer months for dd.

My boys have a 10 tog as they seem a bit swamped by a higher tog. It makes the duvet too thick and cumbersome and difficult to pull up.

If she is cold you can always put a blanket on her in bed as well. Put it over the top of her and then tuck the duvet around her over the top of that. We have done that on very cold nights and it works well.

When I bought DD's duvet they told me that young dcs shouldn't have more than 4.5 togs. I was quite shocked but she's alwys been warm enough.

bumpto3 says this about the difference between their cotbed (4tog) and single bed (8tog) tog ratings:

Because the size of the cot bed is smaller it automatically retains more heat when the child is sleeping, however, the larger surface area in a single bed means the child only heats the area he/she is sleeping in, therefore, a higher tog rating is required on the single bed size.

It also says this:

Do not exceed the maximum recommended tog duvet, which is 4 tog for children in cots or cot beds and 10 tog for children in single beds
