Advice on 4 year old!

looking for advice. 4 year old has a great bedtime routine, asleep easily between 7/7.30 but at some point in the night she’ll wake and want me to sleep in her room with her. I’ve been doing it (just wanted everyone to get some sleep) but we are trying to break the habit. She is absolutely distraught when I leave her. I can persist but I wondered if anyone has any tips or have they tried the sleep patches? I’m thinking if she stays asleep all night she won’t miss me?!

Is it every night?

Ds, when he was 4, woke frequently in the night. Would be awake for ages. We tried lots of things: sleeping with him (I was pregnant, so couldn't be arsed standing around), kids meditation podcast, white noise. Later bed, earlier bed... it was a bit of a phase, and did eventually stop. Not sure what sorted it though!

It’s been every night since September

Sheesh, that sounds hard. Don't know what to suggest. My two both sleep considerably better if they have a long walk during the day and lots of time outside. Worth a try? Or if there are any books about little people learning to sleep in their big girl bed by themselves? There's an episode of Bluey called Sleepytime that you maybe need to watch together...

My DS did this at the same age, the only thing that worked was a very, very appealing bribe. I said if mummy can get some more sleep, I'll have loads of energy to go to the park. If you can sleep in your bed for x amount of nights without waking me up I'll buy you a bike to take to the park with us.

It stopped the night waking instantly (and he was very pleased with himself when he got the bike); but then again he didn't seem to be having nightmares or anything- just wanted a long, loud chat at 3am.

How long is she awake for?

We set up a mattress in our room. So DD could come in and sleep there if needed but I wouldn't have to be on the floor of her room. She used that option and gradually got to a point where she didn't need to anymore.
