2 year old just relentless at night

Hello, just so very desperate and worn out.
I have a son who has just turned 2. He’s been an okay-ish sleeper, he was pretty bad until he was 10 months old then he started sleeping through the night on and off until by the age of 18 months he slept amazingly! All we had to do was put him down, give him bottle say goodnight and he’d be flat out till 6 the next morning.

He recently dropped his nap, absolutely refusing to have one during the day at all. But now here’s our issue, he‘ll go to sleep fine about 7:30-8 pm but wake up hysterically at 1:30ish and just will not relent with the screaming. He is so loud, nothing at all will soothe him and he just won’t give up. He’ll cry/scream/whinge till about 5am. I just feel most sorry for our lovely neighbours as we live in a terraced house!
we really feel like we’ve tried everything so not sure if I’m looking for advice or to just rant! He’s a really lovely boy during the day, so cheerful and inquisitive, but makes me want to pull my hair out at night! This has been going on for about 6 weeks now with no end in sight!
thank you for reading,
A really tired stressed out mum.

Have you had him checked out medically? Fluid in the ear can cause a lot of pain when they are lying flat. Does he drink the bottle while lying in bed? That can lead to fluid in the ears. Best to have a bottle while sitting up with a cuddle, clean teeth and then into bed.

I didn’t know this! Yes he does have his bottle laying down. I shall try giving it to him sitting up tonight and will book a doctors appointment on Monday.
thank you!!:)

This thread might help. Maybe not in ideas but in support for you. If it’s a sleep regression it will pass, took a few months (which felt like decades) !!

Thank you! It’s nice to see I’m not alone in it.
Really thought we were over all the sleep regressions😩

Ah we have tried leaving him a drink and it seems to make no odds, he’ll drink it but still just kick off😩
