Ferber sleep training?

Hi there,
Looking for advice please 😊
My almost 6 month LO is a contact napper but I've been trying to get away from that so I've putting him down in his cot for some of his naps which means he's only sleeping half an hour (if that!). Rarely can I get him back down which results in a grumpy baby until his next nap.
His night sleeping is OK, not great but not terrible, goes down about half 7, dream feed at 10, wakes about 3ish for a bottle, wakes about half 5 to be annoying and then up at 7. There's sometimes an extra wake around 2am. It means he can definitely connect his sleep cycles but doesn't do that during the day.
My question is... if I try the ferber method, does this help with day time naps? Also, if anyone has successfully sleep trained, what do you do when your lo has rolled onto their stomach, do you leave still leave them the 5 mins or whatever time and then go in and roll them back? I just know if I leave he'll potentially roll right away and then he'll be stuck that way until I go back in.

Also, he's still a 4 nap a day baby. If I try keeping him awake longer than 2 and a bit hours he's a nightmare and I don't think this is helping either 🤦‍♀️
Thanks

I thought it wasn’t advised until they are 1?

I did at this age very gently but I was lucky and my boy barely cried about it. If they're very worked up it's not worth it so young. My advice is to watch his wake windows like a hawk. The moment they're tired, put them down

Hi OP, you can certainly use the method for daytime naps. Didn’t work with mine as he never got used to napping in his cot during the day. I used Ferber successfully, baby better rested, my mental health better. Just be aware that whenever you hit a sleep regression it all goes out the window and you’ll have to start over!

A lot of info on the Internet is saying you can start at 4 months 🤷‍♀️ I'm super strict with his wake windows but at this point he should manage longer than 2 hours but he's rubbing his eyes at 2 hours on the dot 🤦‍♀️ I try and keep him awake but it's not worth the fight after when he's over tired 😑

Touch wood we've been quite lucky to never have really hit a sleep regression however I think there's one coming up round about now so I'm maybe better waiting it out a wee bit 🤔
He's just a much happier baby when he's had a good nap that unless I go back to contact napping (which will no doubt cause more issues in the future) I feel like sleeping training of some description is my only option here 🤔
