4 year old bedtime issues

We had the perfect sleeper until we moved her out of her cot into a bed at 2 and a half, (she never tried to climb out so left her in cot for longer than her siblings) but since then we've always had issues with her getting out of bed and messing, she used to reorganise her drawers after bed time 😅, anyway we got through that phase but recently it's resurfacing. She was 4 in October and is starting school this time, she just will not go to sleep, I spend an hour up and down the stairs with various excuses as to why she can't possibly sleep. I've tried being overly positive, harsh, cuddles, ignore, sticker chart, extra attention for the 15 minutes leading up to bed time, we drew pictures and coloured before bed time tonight but still there for an hour 🥱 I find it so draining and I need some other ideas of what to do, or what might be going on?

Just came across this - I am experiencing similar issues with my 4 year old. She just Will not go to sleep at bedtime. Have tried many different strategies but it makes no difference. Gets to the point where she gets so overtired she ends up just conking….about 2 hours after her initial bedtime.

did this improve for you? If not, hopefully this will give this post a boost so we can get some much needed advice 😊

She now has more settled nights and might have 1/2 evenings where it’s like this. Her trick now is to need a poo about 10 minutes after she’s gone down, but then she goes straight back to bed. I think just persistence in the end and she is tired this week from her first week at school so that’s helped. Not really sure what to advise but we just had to keep going. I do think sometimes she plays in her room but without disturbing anyone and then puts herself to bed.
