11 mo baby sleep, split nights advice

Hi everyone,
Can anyone give me some sleep advice?
My LO is 11.5 months. Over the last months she's has lots of split nights. For example, waking up between 12 and 2 and refusing to sleep for 2,3 hours. If I put her in her cot she screams and screams. And if put her on the floor she's happy as and plays.
I've read alot about split nights and have started doing a short morning nap of half hrs then a 1.5 hrs nap after lunch, up by 2.30 for bed at 7 but this doesn't seem to be working either.
The nights are taking it out of me and I'm just doubting myself and feeling crappy about it all. What more can I do/ as anyone got a different schedule I could try ?
Thank you!
So it's 7 to 7 sleep aim
9.30 to 10 nap
1 to 2.30 nap

We had this with DS he didn’t know night from day his pattern was sleep wake eat and play, we had to get him to realise night time was different. For us what worked was night feed in the dark with quiet or no talking and straight back to bed took a while but he got it.

New schedule might take a while to have an impact so wait 7 days. Also, treat night as night so don't get her out of her cot, don't turn on light, don't offer feed -then she will start to realise that nothing fun is going on and she night as well stay asleep

If you’ve given that schedule a couple of weeks and still no different it’s likely time to drop the morning nap and bring the lunch one a little earlier in the day/longer etc to compensate.

She woke up at half 10 as her nappy had leaked, I've changed her and she has been furiously crying since.
Seriously don't know what's going on. Her sleep pressure must be high enough. Or is she maybe overtired now... wish they could just tell us !

We’ve had the same with our 11 month old for 4 months now. It’s getting worse and I feel like I’m on the verge of a mental breakdown. We’ve tried Co sleeping, formula, boob, refusing feed, she’s on pretty much the same schedule as your little one. She get hysterical when we try to get her to sleep 😪 I’ve just been sat next to her cot crying my eyes out as I’m so exhausted and at my wits end.

Rae444 · 15/08/2023 09:39

@Nataliejayne2110 I'm so sorry, that sounds exhausting.
The new scedule did eventually work for us. We have had a couple of split nights since but nothing as bad.
Did your LO sleep well before ? We sleep trained at 6 months because I couldn't handle any more rocking to sleep. Can they self sooth?

does she really need two naps at that age? Mine stopped napping altogether by then

sunflowerandivy · 15/08/2023 12:20

We had split nights from 7-15 months. It was hell. She'd wake up between 1-3am for 1-3 hours. It made no difference if she napped longer or shorter in the day. Made no different if she went to bed earlier or later. She self soothes from about 8 months as I did do some CC mixed with pick up put down but the night wakings were awful. I regularly went into work with 2 hours broken sleep. What did make a difference was that I was hospitalised with sepsis when she was 15 months old and I stopped breastfeeding. Husband tended to her for a whole two weeks whilst I was recovering. Split nights stopped after about 2 weeks. She occasionally throws one on now but it's not every night! However, she is low sleep needs. She only needs 10 hours of sleep a night and will wake between 5-6am no matter what time she's gone to bed.

Nataliejayne2110 · 15/08/2023 12:20

We have to pat her bum to sleep in the cot for her to go to sleep so not quite self soothing, I tried sleep training her but she just screams hysterically 😞 xx

sunflowerandivy · 15/08/2023 12:36

I did sleep training with my eldest at 10 months and it took a total of 15 minutes of grizzly crying (CC) and she slept through. It was magic. Second child completely different kettle of fish. Terrible sleeper. She's still awful now at nearly 19 months but at least no long split nights anymore.

Nataliejayne2110 · 15/08/2023 12:52

She will keep going and going and gets herself so upset she is almost sick, we’ve enquired about a sleep consultant but they want £350! We’re close to just paying it to be honest as it’s nothing if it means we get sleep xx

Rae444 · 15/08/2023 14:20

We did the ferber method and within 3 nights she went to sleep from being down totally awake with no fuss and mainly sleeping through.
Don't get me wrong listening to her cry for those first couple times was hard but we had to do it..we all needed to sleep better.
Keep at it. Hopefully it'll help.
A few months later we had to redo it for the middle of the night wakings but again it didn't take long.

I’m at the point where I’m willing to try anything now, 4 months of only 2-3 hours sleep is breaking me and affecting me at work xxx

Rae444 · 15/08/2023 16:08

Yeah I hear you. Give it a go, fingers crossed for you !
