45 minutes overnight

Just checking, there's not recently been a magic cure discovered for getting a baby to sleep in a cot overnight?

On a good night (i.e it has happened twice) DS2 (7 weeks) manages 90 minutes in one go. On a normal night the most he can do is 45 minutes. I know this is a sleep cycle, but how do you actually get them to realise they need to go back to sleep? Preferably in a way that doesn't wake DS1...

During the day he naps for hours in the sling, and some time in the pram as long as it's constantly moving. I feel over the course of 24 hours he's getting a decent amount of sleep, just all of it is happening in daylight hours!

I really recommend 7pm to 7am by Charmain Mead and Your Sleepless Baby by Rowena Bennet. Our 7 month old is just now linking sleep cycles (sometimes) after some gentle sleep training starting at around 6 months. I really wish I had read those books and started some techniques at an earlier age, as think we left things a bit too late.

Thank you, I'll check those out! We didn't have this problem with DS1, who was doing 3-4 hour stretches at this point, so I do feel a bit lost.

They typically go through a sleep regression at this age.. mine didnt sleep at all during the day from 4 weeks to 8 weeks old and then suddenly started day sleeping for hours on end.
i would say its a phase.. i know babies are different, but mine taught me there are no rules… for two months he drove me mad with waking every 30-40 minutes and all of a sudden the last two nights he slept from 11:00-05:00.. all i do is follow his cues.. i dont think you can do much else but accept it and give him what he needs at such a young age..

Let's hope it's just a regression! It would be nice if the sleeping suddenly clicked.
