Sharing room with baby on hols

So baby is a great sleeper, sleeps 7pm to 7am. We moved her into own room at 8 months as we felt we were disturbing her. We've all been getting sleep. However, this weekend we had visitors, so we shared room with baby and it was awful. She was absolutely aware we were there and was moaning and off when we eventually brought her to bed desperate for her to sleep. She didn't. She wanted to play. We ended up moving to sleep in tv room and she fell asleep within 10 mins of us going.

But we are due to go on holiday in a couple of weeks to see family and will be sharing a room and I am dreading it now. Anyone have any tips on how to manage?

We’re two nights in to our holiday, third night tonight. We coslept to sleep (21mo), which was fine until about 3am (only 1 hour ahead). Then he was back into bed with us for the rest of the night, took 30 minutes to get him back to sleep on night one and 2 hours on night two. I ended up with no space in bed so I didn’t sleep either night once he was in our bed. He’s just taken forever to get to sleep tonight (an hour of “you need to sleep in your bed tonight”). So I’ll watch with interest.

Not what you want to hear but I'm on my second child that won't share a room and we've had to factor in holidays that work for him - just been to a cottage where we had to get the eldest to have a mattress on the landing (luckily it was a big space) so the youngest could have his own space.
We've got a couple of nights booked in August and we'll find a way to move the big one again to accommodate tiny - because we'll all have a better time if he sleeps.

We've booked for next year and made sure we've booked a villa big enough for him to have his own room without the bigger one having to squeeze anywhere!! Lesson learned 😂

It's bloody hard work - didn't share a hotel room til ds1 was 4 and looking likely that ds2 will be similar.

@Hardtopickaname better night last night. The room has full electric black out shutters. We are staying with family so we were able to be in another room whilst he settled, but we’d have had to have gone on balcony or in bathroom if in a hotel room. However he didn’t wake up this morning until 615, early by UK accounts but fine. I think him falling asleep where we want him to sleep was a big part of it. We also put on some rainfall white noise, but I’m 32w pregnant and it did make me want to wee 😂

We’ve also long given up on holidays that involve room sharing! When we stay with family we usually manage to work something out like putting the travel cot in BIL’s office or my mum’s dressing room.

May not be ideal I know but pop baby in a travel cot in the bathroom and close the door? Depends how long you are staying. Good luck ❤️

If it's a hotel room you mean OP x

We did travel cot in the bathroom a few times. Ideally we book accommodation where we aren’t all in one room.

Oh no, we have had a few holidays where we lay down in the dark at 8pm hoping baby/ child would drop off so we can watch tv and have a glass of wine. Never really works

Stay out later put baby to sleep in a pram and then try to transfer to bed when you get in.

Or just keep them up/out late so they're really tired

Pop-up tent? <<clutches at straws>>

we made a little nest for our toddler and did this. He loved it

Do enough in the day so baby is exhausted and they'll hopefully sleep better than at home 🤷

Ours was a terrible sleeper at home but went out to sleep SO quickly and woke less when we were on holiday and room sharing!
