Daytime naps

Hi all

So my 7 week old is sleeping pretty okay at night. Wakes every 3 hours (sometimes 4) for a feed and will happily go back down in his next to me crib each time. Minimal settling or input required from me. Obviously we keep the room dark (the only light is from our Gro egg in the room) and we have white noise on continuously. I also swaddle him and he uses a dummy to nod off and it'll fall out of his mouth when he's in a deep sleep and it won't bother him.

However, during the day I just can't seem to put him down. He will catnap massively when he's put down but will sleep solidly if he's being held or if he's in the sling. I don't mind wearing the sling but ideally, I do want there to be some part of the day where he's able to be put down for a good stretch of sleep!

Can't seem to figure out why he's not able to do a chunk of sleep during the night but only 20 mins or so at a time during the day? When he wakes after 20 mins in the day, he's clearly still very tired and will then fall asleep in my arms.

What am I doing wrong in the day?

Contact naps only. Don't put them down.
Mine contact napped until they were 7 months old, but would sleep ok for chunks in the night in the next to me. Get a stretchy sling, some Bluetooth headphones and embrace the contact napping phase.

@sunflowerandivy as nice as that sounds and I would love to enjoy contact naps more, it's not realistic. I have a 3 year old too.
I have a sling which is helpful in allowing me to be hands free and I do use this throughout the day at times. Mainly at dinner time and when I'm sorting out stuff for the eldest.

I just can't suss out what the issue is in the day vs the night. It's not just the next to me cot either he won't go down in the day, he just won't go down anywhere for any length of time!

It's not an issue you can solve. Putting a 7 week old down for decent longish daytime naps is not the norm. It's pushchair or sling for a while

My husband use to take my baby off me at 6am for 2-3 hours and get my eldest ready for school / give her brekkie etc and baby was completely fast asleep despite all the activity and noise.

In a stretchy sling

We did pushchair naps until 7 months old, so asleep in pushchair in the hallway. To start with i had to walk to get him to sleep then he would stay asleep, but then he would just nap happily in the puschair in the house. Made it easy when i wanted to pop out as didn't have to wake him up
