Adore him in the day. Dread night!

Absolutely love my DS more than anything in the world. I often look at him during the day thinking 'omg I absolutely adore this child, I love him too much, he's the best thing in the world'.... come bedtime he turns me into a dragon. He has NEVER been a good sleeper. He's awful to get down to bed. I've 'got used' to functioning on broken sleep (several wake ups during the night, and early rising in the morning) and the bugger is almost 2!!!
Please. Does it get easier?!
Because I read so many threads advising parents of younger babies it does... but I'm a couple of weeks off 2 years in.. and I've probably had 3/4 nights where he's slept through for 9h straight. And even then I'm up bloody checking on the little bugger because I'm so used to getting up to him 😩

I'm the parent of a 17 month old DD who's currently trying to kill me off, having slept for ONE hour since midnight last night. So I'm searching the message boards in misery while she causes chaos and I'm entirely unable to help your query I'm afraid.

Just solidarity from someone else who seems to currently have part adorable little being who makes my heart burst and part... dragon.

Is he in a single bed yet ? Mine slept better in one at that age.

@KangarooKenny no still in cot because of how active he is in his sleep I fear he would fall out, even with bed guard up I know he would clamber over it and probably hurt himself.
He also doesn't seem to like his room he wakes up a lot more in there, really crying too. If I put him in awake he cries and cries and really works himself up so I had to put him in there once he'd dropped off to sleep first. Actually I've resorted to putting him in the travel cot in my room as he sleeps better in with me.
He's never been a good sleeper and I think a mix of that with separation anxiety is what's doing it.
Although.. I did have a better night with him last night he slept 9:30pm-6:45am without waking (I'll add that to his rare list of sleep-throughs) so I have woken up feeling rather fresh.. and happy this morning! 😆 I'll take it, because I know it's a fluke LOL

Wishing you strength @Olivia199 I know sleep deprivation is so bloody tough x

I'm so glad you finally got some rest!! They just love bringing us right to the edge before pulling back and snoozing like an angel 😂
Worrying mine missed the point where I fell off that edge! I'm sure it'll pass, all these things do!
