Baby sleeping bags for a wriggler

Me again. The 8 month old is a terrible wriggler-he is moved from the top of the cot to the bottom of the cot about 4 times a night or would knock himself out on the bars and has often gotten his limbs half in and out of the bars! I'm worried that he will get cold if he wriggles out of his blankets. I've heard that sleeping bags are good to remedy this, but I have no clue as to togs, etc. Would that be all he was covered in (other than his PJs, of course)?
Any advice?

Sleeping bags are fantastic. Are you American? I'm sure you can get them there, if not grobag ones are great or Bonne Nuit do very chic French ones. Baby sleeping bags are all safe - around 2 tog, I think. It's a bit like a padded dress - sleeveless, zip up or with poppers to fasten. Lots of room for legs to kick. Yes, this is all he'd need in bed. The tog is low because all his body heat is kept in the bag. If you think his arms might be cold you can put him in a long-sleeved vest under his pjs or even a thing pj jacket. Definitely the thing for wriggly babies.

Most bags are 1 tog for summer weight(like a thin fleece) & 3-4tog for winter weight (more like a quilt) they're great on wrigglers and you can add blankets over thinner ones if you like the flexibility of varying the temperature. What ds wears really depends on the temperature of your house anything from just a vest (in summer)up...
There's another thread running on sleeping bags just now (last day or so) with many suggestions on where to get them if you're UK based.

Thanks, might give it a go if it becomes a problem. Mothercare and JMB do them as well, by the way, Aloha.
PS No, I'm not American, S. African.

Ah, Inga, I wondered because you used 'gotten' which I know is an American term, but also a SA one I now realise.
